Presbyopia is part of the natural aging process of the eye. Evolving gradually over time, presbyopia develops as the lens of the eye and the ring of muscle fibers where light enters the eye lose their flexibility. With the onset of presbyopia, near vision gets blurry, and it becomes increasingly difficult to read or see things up close. Adults with presbyopia may also experience eyestrain, fatigue, and headaches after reading or doing close-up work.
Almost everyone over the age of 40 experiences some degree of presbyopia.
As the first FDA-approved eye drop for presbyopia, Vuity improves near vision without impacting distance vision. Containing pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, one drop of Vuity in each eye reduces pupil size to facilitate crisper, clearer close up vision.
Is Vuity right for me?
If you have been diagnosed with age-related blurred vision, known as presbyopia, you may be a candidate for Vuity. Our eye doctor will examine your eyes and review your medical and eye health history to determine if Vuity is right for you. As with all medications, our office will also review any contraindications or potential side effects.
How is Vuity administered?
Vuity is a topical eye medication that’s administered as an eyedrop. The recommended dosage is one drop in each eye, once daily. Our eye doctor will review the instructions in detail, and how long to wait if you use more than one topical eye medication or before placing your contact lenses.
Do I still need reading glasses with Vuity?
Vuity eyedrops provide several hours of clear, crisp near vision, offering a temporary solution for presbyopia. While it doesn’t eliminate the need for corrective lenses, it can reduce your daily dependency on reading glasses.
