Dr. Aaker was born and raised in southern California before receiving the President’s Scholarship to attend Baylor University. During college, he discovered his passion for eye care and creating a thriving optometric practice that provides an exceptional patient experience. At Baylor, he would meet his beautiful and talented wife, Genevie before attending Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Dr. Aaker received a scholarship for attaining a perfect score in the science section of the Optometry Admissions Test.
He completed internships at West Tennessee Eye which has been touted as the most medically advanced optometric practice in the state, Eclectic Eye a high end optical boutique, and Bossier Family Eye Care which focused on primary eye care for all ages. Dr. Aaker is skilled in the treatment and management of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, ocular allergies, contact lens related infections, and foreign body removal. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages while providing expert vision care including hard to fit contact lenses.
Experiencing San Antonio since 2008, he believes it is the greatest city in the country and is an active member of the Bexar County District Optometric Society. Dr. Aaker has been taking care of patients since 2011 and enjoys providing the best eye care possible for his community. Dr. Aaker and his wife are blessed to spend time raising their daughters Sophia and Stella while being active at Crossbridge Community Church.
In January 2015, Dr. Aaker purchased Dr. Mark Cooney’s office which became Visionary Family Eye Care. Dr. Cooney owned the practice since the early 90’s and is enjoying retirement with his wife and spending time with grandchildren. In October 2016, Dr. Aaker purchased The Eyeglass Shop from Dr. Paul Darrow. Dr. Darrow had practiced in the location on Danbury since 1967. He now enjoys spending time with his wife, grandchildren and taking educational classes of various interests. In March of 2019, Dr. Quang Pham closed his location in Walmart on Jones Maltsberger and transitioned the care of the patients to Dr. Aaker. After leasing the Walmart location for a few months, Dr. Aaker is now seeing those patients at The Eyeglass Shop. In August of 2020, Dr. Noriega retired and closed Eyemazing Optical after 25 years of practice. He transitioned the patients to the care of Dr. Aaker. It is very important to Dr. Aaker to continue the legacies of Dr. Cooney, Dr. Darrow and Dr. Noriega.
Dr. Aaker is pleased to offer all of these existing patients and new patients exceptional eye care and eyewear at the newly remodeled and beautiful Eyeglass Shop, where we feature a spa-like exam experience, the latest in optometric technology, and a carefully curated selection of boutique eyewear. The Eyeglass Shop exists to serve the community with the best eye care services and products available while providing a better quality of life for all who entrust us with their care.
